You can buy all kinds of modeling kits and resin models from Hobby Link Japan and have it shipped to you in a matter of days. With regards to Kuwait, they accept all credit cards and payment thru Paypal. The preferred mode of shipping is EMS and it takes about 5 days to ship from Tokyo to Kuwait. Once your package arrives you get an SMS from the Ministry of Communication (MOC) asking you to collect your package from their EMS counter. There might be a slight delay at the counter sometimes so I prefer to go after 4 pm.

If you want to have a small project or just something to do in your spare time try one of the kits on HLJ you wont be disappointed.

  1. Hello,

I’m planning to order from HLJ.com, i just want to ask you how much we have to
pay for the custom tax in kuwait and can they deliver the package directly to my address?

    Thanks.

    1. There is no customs duty on model kits unless you’re shipping in a very large amount of stuff. I always have to pick up my stuff from the EMS office in Kaifan but I think they might deliver if you provide a home address.

      1. Hi,

Wow, thanks for the quick reply. I’m staying on a flat in fahaheel. I nearly confirmed my order last night until i read your post regarding EMS at Kaifan. I’m working at Al Zour and working till 6pm so I might not be able to pick it up on time.

I hope they can delivery even if there’s extra charge, I won’t mind at all.

Anyway, thanks for the big help. I appreciate it a lot.

        1. I don’t know about delivery to Fahaheel but I do know that you can ask a friend to pick it up for you. He will have to give the EMS tracking number and show his civil ID.
One more thing…they always inspect the package contents so don’t order any nude or semi nude figures/resin kits.

  2. I see, so I can ask someone to pick it up for me. that’s a relief then. well, i’m just unto Gundam kit so i guess like you said, it won’t be a problem here in Kuwait.

actually, 2 years back, I’m ordering my gundam kit from a Kuwaiti who has this website artofhobby.com but it suddenly closed down. now, it’s the first time I’m buying in HLJ.com so i’m worried. anyhow, you’ve been a big help for me.

thanks a lot. you got such very informative blog. keep it up.

  3. last question, if however i tried to reach MOC at Kaifan, up to what time their office is open for pickup of package from HLJ? tnx

    1. I think they’re open till 6PM but I can’t be sure about that. You’ll have to check with your local Ministry of Communication office in Fahaheel, they’ll have the office timings for the Kaifan office.

  4. Hello again.

it’s exactly as you said, after confirming my order from HLJ and from the date the it leaves japan, around 3 days after I paid the kit, it arrived in Kuwait exactly 5 days. but, as you said, i asked someone to pick the item in Kaifan and i sent my Civil ID because they’re asking for it.

I have another question, i’m planning to buy resin kit from HLJ. will there be a problem. it’s not nude or even semi nude. it’s the figure of the gundam pilot. it’s a garage kit that has to be assemble and painted.

    thanks again.

    1. Glad to hear you got your package safely. I’ve never bought resin kits from HLJ since those B Club and G System kits are pretty expensive. Have you tried E2046.com? I contacted their customer care dept. and they informed me that they too ship thru EMS and its from Hong Kong.

I’d like to know how you paint your kits? Air brush or hand painting? 🙂

  5. thanks for the reply.

yes, the resin kits from HLJ are a little costly compared to E2046. i’m taking resin kits from E2046 by pre-order. it’s a lot cheaper and they have more choices too compared to HLJ.

for painting the body parts and hair, use air brush. there’s the cheaper basic airbrush from HLJ which is Tamiya brand and have the same basic compressor for it. then for detailing, eyes and lips, you need to have a small tip paintbrush (most favorable if the tip is a little stiff).

i order paints from E2046 using Mr. Color. atleast each paint bottle cost half-dinar and you need a minimum of 6 colors for a resin kit. it looks good too for the finish product.
