Ordering from Flipkart.com

I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about this site lately and what really got my attention was all the Nikon gear available at really superb prices. Last week a friend of mine received his Nikon D5100 with 18-5mm kit lens for about INR 38,000 which is less than what another friend paid for his Nikon D3100 from Kuwait!
Here’s another comparison; I checked out the price of the D7000 (body) at a couple of places here and the average price is 420 KD while the same body retails for approx INR 58,000 on Flipkart, which is an instant saving for 100 KD. I wanted to test their service first so I ordered some DVDs to be shipped to my home in Trivandrum and its already been shipped and they should be delivered to my home by the end of the week.
One thing I liked about Flipkart is that they have so many payment options. I initially wanted to charge all purchases to my ICICI card but I forgot that it didn’t have enough balance and for some strange reason my SBI card was not working on their payment portal. Luckily they have a COD (cash on delivery) option and that’s what I opted for. If you’re buying items worth more than INR 40,000 they have an EMI plan that you can pay in 3 or 6 months and I might use that if I’m buying anything expensive.
What I didn’t like was their shipping method, in my case they split it into two batches; one via BlueDart and the other via Aramex. Now it doesn’t make a difference in money or time delivered but I’d still prefer to receive all my items in the same batch.
I might do a small review on the Nikon D5100 my friend bought from Flipkart and get his feedback on his shopping experience as well.

Flipcart.com have expand their online service and in a massive way. Their prices are the best (Nikon DSLR)so far. Oh i soo wished i was in India.
I’m not in India too but you can always have it shipped to a friend’s house and pick it up on your next visit.
So I ask someone to ship it from India. hmm.. I heard some of their deliveries come in damaged packages. How good is it to ship sensitive electronics from India to Kuwait?
I wouldn’t even ship chips from India to Kuwait lol! I usually ask a family member to bring it when they return to Kuwait.
Do they ship to Kuwait?
Unfortunately they don’t. You might need a forwarding service similar to Youshop or MyUS.
Mathai, price for D5100 + Kit lens at Pixetra (retail entity of tradelink) cochin is almost the same. Their price is Rs.38752/- including VAT.
Thanks for the info, I think I’ve heard about this place. Need to buy some lightstands and softboxes from there on my next trip.
i used to get all my books from this site, type in the authors or book title, prompt delivery in 2days,good rates and easy payment option,so far no damages as suggested. They have a email notification as an when stocks come.Off late they have expanded to electronics. They are touted and valued as Indias Amazon
I compared the price of Nikon D3s. It is selling here for KD 1800/- after discount (approx. 325,00). On Flipart, it is retailing for 280,000. A difference of Rs. 45,000!!.
Considering the higher duty paid in India, it is so obvious that the retailers in Kuwait are just ripping us off.
Actually, I’ve realized another benefit of buying in India. Every time I take my camera equipment, I get hassled by the customs and end up paying them something. If I have purchased items in India, I don’t need to do that shit.
Yes the higher the models the greater the price difference. I also checked the prices on Nikon India’s website and they’re much cheaper than the local dealers in Kuwait. Cajie if you’re facing trouble with carrying your gear I suggest you get an export license. Makes it much easier while moving thru customs
