If you came to this blog expecting to read something about the Pink Floyd album ” Dark Side of the Moon”, then I’m sorry to disappoint you. : )
Rather its about our very own moon, the earth’s only satellite. I was doing some reading on stories about the moon from past centuries and it was facinating ! Many cultures and civilizations considered the moon to be a dark and mysterious object. Infact the word “lunatic” is derived from the Latin word “Luna” because it was believed that the phases of the moon and insanity were linked.
Popular legends and myths mention demons and other scary characters coming out on the day of the full moon. The most popular full moon character would be the “Werewolf” who transforms from a timid human into a blood thirsty wolf-like creature when he sees the full moon.
Well me being the brave man that I am, was intrigued by all this literature and decided to get some shots of the moon from the safety of my apartment terrace. And as luck would have it,
It was a Full Moon !!!
Here’s one of the shots that came out good.
Enjoy and I wish you good mental health
Hello city dwellers, this past weekend I decided to leave the confines of my urban surroundings and explore the facinating and sometimes dangerous world of Wild life photography.
Well to be honest, I went to the Kuwait Zoo.
Thats wildlife right ? 🙂
As always my sense of timing couldnt have been more perfect ! (for those without Sarcasm detectors, this is me being sarcastic). I reached the zoo a few minutes after the animals had been fed their mid-day meal. To say the least I was downright disappointed. Heres me being totally gungho about seeing roaring tigers, snarling wolves and hissing reptiles, what I saw left me thinking ” I’ve never seen such lazy ass animals in my entire life!”What I did see were snoring wolves, purring lions (yes they do purr when they’re full), a snoozing leopard, stiff tortoises (no surprise there !) and a whole lot of idle deer. The only animals up and about were the monkeys. You might say that they were “monkeying” around (pardon the pun, hehehe)

There is a message I would like to send to all animal lovers and zoo visitors,
Please Please Please Please Please DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS.
The animals at zoos are not left to fend for themselves, they are fed by the zoo authorities. I hate to see people feeding bread, burgers and popcorn to wild animals. They might recognise all food from visitors as being safe to eat and this gives miscreants an opportunity to feed dangerous substances to unsuspecting animals.
Once again Please DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS AT THE ZOO
Tragedy struck a couple of days ago.
My fish tank had been fully set up and I was enjoying watching my little fishies swim around when i noticed one of the smaller gold fish swimming rather slowly and aimlessly. I took him out of the main tank and into the observation tray but my best attemps to save him were in vain. I cleaned out tank fearing a bacterial or fungal infection and then installed an Activated Carbon layer in the filter system. Well things look Okay now, and I’m hoping there wont be anymore ‘deaths’ in the near future.
All Clear now
Thats all for now , till we meet again.
Ive been going thru a lotta photography articles and stuff this past week to get the most out of my camera but alas the weather has put a damper on my plans once again! The next few photos show what happens when im stuck at home and bored outta my mind.
Macro Shots here I come !
Smile for the Birdie !
Its the year 2007 now, wonder what the world has in store for us now. More earthquakes, tsunamis, civil war and genocide… ‘Oh yeah thats a good way to start the year’ you might be thinking, but thats the way it is. Lets face it ladies and gentlemen, the world is screwed up. And looks like it’ll stay this way for a quite a while longer. But who am I to predict these things? 🙂
Well whatever happens I’ve got a couple of things to keep me occupied this year. I’ve got a brand new digicam, a Sony DSC H5. Its got just the right amount of manual controls that I need without going into the D-SLR category. The second thing is that I’ve set up an aquarium at home, got a few Goldfish and Gourami.
I havent had time to take pictures of the aquarium, for now letting everything settle down but
in the coming days you can look forward to a lot more photographs and fish(y) stories.
Oh Christmas tree!.. Oh Christmas tree!how lovely are thy branches !..hmmmm…aaand I forgot the rest of the lyrics 😉 anyway that song is what comes to mind when I look at my christmas tree in all its splendor.
I’ve been really busy with work, and thats one of the reasons it took me so long to post this picture.Looks like I’ll be busy till the 25th, yeah thats right, I’ll be working on Christmas day(one of the hazards of working in a Muslim country).Just kidding.. I have to get going now,I’ll be back on the 26th,
MERRY CHRISTMAS !!
Its that time of the year again, SEASONS GREETINGS TO ONE AND ALL 🙂
lets see we have Christmas, Hanukkah and Eid all within a few days of each other, I’m sure the Greeting card companies are making a killing this year.. as they do always. Well more on that for a later blog.
Lets get back to the spirit of christmas, ah yes the spirits of christmas.. Rum, Vodka, Whiskey (hic!)
I’m happy that I got the tree up well before christmas(but it’ll probably stay up till feb..lazy me ! 🙂 ) theres something about decorating a tree that makes me feel like i’m 12 again, I love the smell of the decorations when they come outta the box. well.. all thats left now are the lights and some small bits and pieces. pictures of the tree coming soon, so keep watching this space.
