Exploring the Wild

It’s been a while since I’d joined a group on a photo-shoot, so in January when some friends were out exploring the ‘wilderness’ in Kuwait I tagged along. Apparently there are a lot of bird species in places like Wafra and Abdali and several other places like the nature reserve. The group I was with, Q8Clicks, has a bunch of avid birders and they manage to get some great shots of birds on most outings.

Here’s some from my trip with them.

One word of advise though, if you’re gonna spend time in the desert, be sure to clean up after yourself. It’s disgusting to see the amount of garbage left behind by campers and visitors.

Hunting for Chalets in Kuwait?

A couple of nights ago a colleague of mine and I were looking for a good chalet to rent during the Eid holidays. I came across two new websites but unfortunately most of the places we called were either too expensive, 500 KD upwards or fully booked for the whole week.

The sites are easy to navigate and have a gallery for each property so that you can get an idea of the available facilities. The contact phone numbers are also listed for each property. The chalet’s descriptions are in Arabic but we got around that by using Google Translate. If you’re using Chrome you can use the built-in translate feature. The best thing about the sites was that each location is also marked on a map so that you can take the coordinates and find your way there easily. Some even have a video presentation!

Good luck finding a chalet for Eid!

Photos from The International Motocross Challenge 2012 – Kuwait

Here’s some pictures of the action at the race today. Weather conditions were really bad and by afternoon the sandstorm hit Wafra area and we had to make a fast retreat back to the city. I think I prefer the dirt track off 6th Ring Road where last year’s race was held coz it had more vantage points for photography.

The surprise of the day was finding out that an Indian rider was also racing in the challenge and he came in fourth place in the final race. There was a small team of people supporting him and a news clip for Asianet was being filmed when I got there. The Kawasaki sponsored rider, Mr. Jinan Chellikkattil Dasan,  hails from Thrissur, Kerala. It was great to see the Indian flag and a rider representing my country at an International level.

More pictures after the break and as usual another crappy video clip from myself (I really should learn how to shoot video)
